American court gives verdict against Aafia Siddiqi

Finally it came out as expected. The American court finally gave the verdict of it’s own choice against Lady Alqaeda(As Americans refer her with this title). The court says that she tried to kill American marines with a rifle. No matter how much Qazi Hussain and Hussain Haqqani whine, she has been poisoned for 60 years!

One agrees or not but Steve Jobs has got talent to produce amazing products. He has also been blessed with selling out his products. After iPhone, Steve came up with another amazing device and called it iPad. As expected, Jobs came up with intuitive User Interface. Specially iBook is definitely going to kill Kindle in near future.

I am not an apple fan, can’t be because Apple’s products,specially computers are pretty expensive but I am definitely another fan of Steve Jobs due to his genius mind and clever entrepreneurship. Steve is a trend setter in technology world and always will be. The way hype was created on tech crunch and others attracted many geeks around the world.

How iPad will be used, it’s not clear. People are trying to figure it out. Surprisingly this new slim device is not so expensive as the price starts from $499. iPad does not have every thing. Basc stuff like USB,Camera,GPS and Flash ain’t available in it. I don;t know the reason but iPad is not a complete package. Many people are disappointed and not considering it revolutionary. I didn’t like the name of the device, quite girlish and embarassing. You know what I mean. I mean.. you will not like to say things like,I lost my pad!*shrug*

Ridiculing the molvis/Mullahs is like a domestic hobby in Pakistan. One can’t be considered educated and broadminded if he/she don’t curse molvis.

Many of you would have heard others to make fun of molvis or curse them because molvis always called TV as “Haraam” and evil stuff. Then you would have met people who would have tried their best to prove themselves educated by throwing up stuff like..These molvis are backwards. They just prefer to sit in Masjids or Madrassahs rather than adapting changes. I myself may not agree with these molvis because I think that TV as a medium could be used for positive things as well but these scholars and molvis always came up with arguments that current media trend is not healthy for people.

Anyways,the enlightened class always ignored people of religion by declaring them clerics hence backwards and moved on.

Yesterday I came across an Interesting study on Slashdot that how watching TV could steal few moments of your life.

From Guardian:

Every hour spent watching television each day increases the risk of dying from heart disease by almost a fifth, say scientists.

Couch potatoes were warned that their lifestyle also increased the risk of death from other causes including cancer.

People who spent hours watching television greatly increased the chances of dying early from heart attacks and strokes, researchers in Australia found. Compared with those watching less than two hours of TV, people who sat in front of the box for more than four hours a day were 80% more likely to die for reasons linked to heart and artery disease.

New Scientist reports that watching TV in early stages could cause attention problems in adolescence.

Another report which is very dangerous that kids who watch so much TV could suffer from Asthema.

I know families where there are no TV sets and yet they are not suffering from any kind of infeririorty complex. They do this because they consider it a gateway of suffering and sorrows. Today scientists proved how TV could be the reason of various diseases in our family members. I am one of those who say,”Don’t curse the tool,curse the user” but honestly speaking it does not apply everywhere, specially on TV. The religious scholars would have called it Haraam for various reasons which might appear irrelevant to you but if you think deeper, you would find out that the reasons given by Molvis are actually causing the diseases identified by scientists. TV is asked to avoid due to lust of watching Haram(na-mahrams women or men) and we usually spend hours in front of TV just for sake of movies or songs. Sometimes we love to watch models and feel *happy*. Islam had summed up all and declared it Haram. Maybe it was so unusual for people of logic who try to run away from faith hence reject all such orders but now when Science is also backing molvis then such illiterate intellectuals might like to ponder on this serious issue.

So, try to avoid discourage TV in your family as much as you can. Not for a molvi but for your own family. May Allah guide us and save us from such half-baked modern Muslims who try to mould Islam according to their own needs.Ameen

Haiti Earthquake and technology-How can you help

Many of you would be aware of devastating earthquake in Haiti which caused the lost of lives of thousands of people. People around the world have been trying their best to help the one of the most poorest country of Americas which is dealing with the crisis. Once again the current array of technologies could be helpful to provide a bridge between volunteers and people who are willing to help them. For instance Haitian-born singer Wycelf has been trying it’s best to help his country men. All he wants to text Yele to 501501 which will cost you $10 per SMS. If you want to donate to RedCross then “HAITI” to 90999 or send a gift card to RedCross.

On other hands techies in America are teaming up to utilize current technology to help earthquake victims. CrisisCampHaiti is calling techies from different parts of the America to use their skills to build up systems which can provide some help on ground. Tim Oreilly just updated his twitter status about the facility of free SMS service for Haiti where you can ask about the things need on ground. Google has comeup with a people finder badge which you can embed on your site

UN has already declared Haiti’s earthquake the worst disaster ever dealth with. We can’t challenge to God Almighty but such incidents also become the reason of testing our faith that how sincere we are to help these victims.

We Pakistani have already dealt with similar situation 4 years ago. The way we all we teamed up to help our countrymen was really commendable. People of Haiti might not be out countrymen or belong to same faith but yet they are human like us and they do need our help. There is an appeal from Pakistanis and they ‘re being asked to come forward and help. Edhi sahab is already participating in relief activities. Unfortunately we could not do things much in technology ground despite of my appeal here and there . Please come forward and help the people who are similar to us. May God reward you on your efforts.

Hey! What’s Up?

This is the question which was recently asked by few guys who happen to follow me here. All of them asked, why my blog is so dead now? no updates, nothing! I just thought to write something about current activities.

It might surprise you that it’s not my new marital status which keeps me busy here and there. Neither I have become bloggingly infertile that I don’t find new things in pocket to discuss. It’s all about change in priorities. I have been trying get back to same world which I belong to, the tech world. Someone might call me an insane that how come I am getting more into this thing rather than enjoying new life? So my friends! Alhamdolillah I have been enjoying this new relationship and things around it hence it’s been helping me to keep my brain focused on things which are very near to me and more important for myself(My veteran married friends might not agree with me by saying,”yeah yeah enjoying” :-> ). I had already mentioned here that as soon as soon as I got engaged in something then I would not be able to spend much time in blogging stuff.

I am a wannabe entrepreneur cum software engineer and for past 2 months I have been trying to work on fewer ideas which have been in pending since ages. By default I am a kind of lazy who just don’t finish something up on time plus I have to take care of new entry in my life too,wife. Usually she does not complain when I don’t give her much time after getting back to home or on holidays but I can feel what she feels at that time and I try my best to convince her for what I am doing or try to reschedule my stuff just to make sure that I don’t hurt her. Note for all women: Being a husband is not so easy as they think about it!

Luckily I found few friends around me who think like me, who wants to do something which they can’t do in their own respective companies due to various reasons. So it’s like we have been discussing things(aka brainstorming) about different ideas I have or they have. Apart from that I have been trying to work on things which should have been done by now. For that purpose I have got a hosting service along with a domain which would be used as a platform where I can do various experiments. I might not reveal the name right now as there’s nothing over there to show off. So, in short I have following things in my life which keeps me engaged most of the time.

1) My Wife and home offcourse.

2)Job

3)My very own experimental lab and things related to it

4 )Formation of a team to work on newer idea(prolly a startup? Not sure though..)

I was supposed to write a post about the role of a husband in which I wanted to share things I learnt in past 3 months or..a husband can learn due to a relationship with wife. That post was supposed to go live after 1st month of my wedding but I could not start it, then I thought to write about it after 3 months and yet It could not be done. The only thing I have done so far that I have drafted a post only with a title and introductory lines. My wife is staying at her mom’s place. I thought I would be able to give time for that pending blog post but against I rejected my own idea and thought to work on stuff I mentioned above. I don’t know when will I be able to complete that post. Things around me keeps me busy most of the time. Wish me luck for new ventures and remember us in prayers.

Note: For all those techies who are willing to work on their own ideas, I would recommend them to read Founders at work. Simply an amazing book about famous companies/people who faced issues in their early days.

Do you remember Ahmad Raza Kasuri? Yeah again he is facing a controversy, this time due to his wife. His wife has submitted three different birth cirtificates. According to these certificates Mrs Kasuri passed matriculation at the age of 11 which was surprising for many but Mr.Kasuri said:

there are genius people in the world. He questioned if an eight-year- old boy could memorise the Holy Quran, why an 11-year-old girl could not pass the matric exam.

Federal Counsel of Ministry of Education Asad Abbas replied:

if Mrs Kasuri was genius, why she passed the matriculation through a supplementary examination

How would you say if someone asks you that your worth is around Rs.650? Definitely you would not feel good. The fact is that that our friend, Amerika has already figured out our worth and signed a document named Kerry-Lugar bill. According to the bill, the cost of yours is not more than Rs.650 and in return you have been asked to put everything at stake. Are you surprised? well just see yourself. According to the bill,Pakistan will be given $1.5 billion/annum. So just do a bit math and it will reveal something which is quite unpleasant for me.

Annual Aid($) = 1500000000

Annual Aid/Pakistani($)=1500000000/ 16000000(16 corore Pakistanis) = 93.75

Per Month Aid($) = 93.75/12 = 7.8

Per Month Aid(PKR) = 7.8 x 83 = 648.43

Amazing, isn’t it? All those wanna be experts and ignorant intellectuals who have been preaching us,Pakistanis to stop protesting the aid must figure out their own worth. Maybe they would have been given additonal dollars to keep their mouth shut(or open to promote Uncle Sam’s interest) but you can see yourself. I think I am not so bad at maths that I can’t even calculate a Pakistani’s worth. Congrats guys! Even a prostitute knows her worth and cash it before selling her out but thanks to our moderate and enlightened leaders who proved themselves even lower than a prostitute.
