Media Michael and Mian Tufail

Sunday, June 28, 2009 at 9:22 pm

I got a bit late to share my thoughts about Mian Tufail Muhammad, the ex Chief of Jamat-Islami who recently passed away. Inna Lillahye Wainna Alahaye Rajioon. While the nation seems disturbed on death of Michael Jackson who also died on same day, nobody noticed much about the death of this learned scholar who introduced me Ali Hijveri(RA) a.k.a Data Ganj Baksh, the author of famous Sufi book Kashful Mahjoob.

I got a bit surprised when I saw that media utilized all skills to pay tribute to Michael Jackson while did not say much about the death of a learned man. Every anchor was mourning as if there is no tomorrow but then I reminded myself that we as a nation hardly pay tribute to learned people and usually ignore them just by remembering other things associated with them. Maybe a foreign  singer is more important for us than a learned person or many people who died in Swat that’s why Sind assembly remained silent for a minute just ignored his death because he was a Jamati.  What else can you expect from an ignorant nation?

I do not know anything about Tufail Sahab. All I know that I am thankful to him that he translated the book in urdu while he was in jail and did a great favor for people like me who were not aware about Ali Hejveri at all. May Allah bless his soul. Ameen.

Of course! This is another symptom of the underlying cause that resulted in our celebration at Pakistan winning the World Cup while a part of country burns.

May Allah have mercy on Mian Tufail, ameen.

inna lillahe wa inna ilehay rajioon!

  9. oh atleast I know something about him if not about this book translation. He was the one who became ammer e jamat after moddodi *thinking if I am recalling correct* right??? …..I didnt knew about this tribute *sarcastically* to Michael Jackson in Sind assembly …Allah reham karay:-/

  10. I haven’t seen Mian Tufail’s translation and am not sure what year it was done. However, the first Urdu translation of Kashf Al-Mahjub was done by Maulvi Feroze-ud-din (of Feroze Sons Publishers). It was published in 1894 by the title of Bayan Al-Matlub

I have read 2003 edition and it is quite comprehensible.

  11. Acha hoa aik aur Munafiq Paleed sa yeh dunya paak ho gaye

  12. sSafi, some one on earth who might be near to you think sake after your death :-)

and why did you have to use Proxy service like Anonymouse to make a comment.

What dua one should make for a loser like you? :-)

  13. I frankly believe it was heartless of us to make so much fuss about MJ’s death and also about Pakistan winning the 20-20 while so many of us are gladly being killed and displaced in our northern parts. May Allah show us all the true light of His hidayah.

  14. I’ve been with Mian Tufail Muhammad for several times in my life. and I belief that i’m the most luckiest boy than my other age mates.
He was a true Sufi, the modest and a open book. He got every solution regarding todays problems with Quranic, Hadiths quotes.
If someone calls him a munafiq…. I’m quite pitty on his/her mentality.
May Allah bless his soul and give him peace in Jannat ul Firdus.
    Ameen!
