Karachi without pathans
Things are getting worst day by day, this is what I hear from everyone these days and it has started making me sick now. Be it matter of Karachi or entire Pakistan or any other thing, I have not been hearing any good news for last few months. Oh infact I should say for many years.
The propaganda of Talibanization started by Altaf and Co is getting worst day by day. Yesterday it was not a good day in most of areas in Karachi due to clash between pathans(MQM’s talibans) and MQM. Earlier Zardari ordered for the registration of outsiders coming to Karachi. Is this a start of separation of Karachi from rest of Pakistan because I have not heard anything like that for other countries. Different businesses by pathans are being targeted and most of them are those who survive on daily wages; Tandoor Walas,thela wallas,cobblers etc etc. In result Jang has reported following news on today’s paper:
So these guys were Altaf’s Talibans’ hence they are being forced to send back. I am wondering what will be the Karachi without pathans? Say I agree with Altaf for a moment that ALL pathans are involved in terrorist activities, does this mean MQM has been claiming that all the bhatta Karachiites have been giving for years was actually being done by pathans? Is MQM claiming that they had mistakenly appointed pathans as sector incharges in different areas of Karachi and now they are busy in down sizing? the other excuse being given that Pathans are anti-urdu speaking people hence racist. If that’s the case then Punjabis should also be targetted too? why only Pathans? why not targetting Urdu speaking people who also sound racist at times against Pathans and Punjabis? To be honest we all are racist one way or other.
Lets assume there is no pathan in Karachi anymore, now what? Altaf didn’t share his plan how things will be handled in absence of Pathans. Is Altaf going to appoint his own guys as Tandoor Wallas,cobblers,Ricksha and Taxi Wallas? Who will be doing the “mega projects” of city Nazim? who is going to dig roads and constructing buildings? Who will be take care of transport system? there are countless things which are being taken care by our Pathan brothers. In short Karachi without pathans will be like a person without soul. Pathans have played vital role in the development of Karachi. Lets agree with it no matter what do you think about them. What’s the fault of these pathans who have been serving us for many years? do you think we urdu speaking people would feel honor to take care of businesses being run by them? Let’s be honest, most of urdu speaking people consider it offensive to do jobs being handled by pathans in Karachi because most of urdu speaking people suffer in some sort of complex. They are lazy hence always prefer a white collar job. A pathan or punjabi will never hesitate to do low level job but this quality is quite rare in urdu speaking people. Why?I actually could not get at all.
Now what will be the outcome? Karachi is going to get screwed further. The stupid propaganda started by Altaf is going to hurt Karachi and its residents only. Today If USA is something then it’s because of generous policies for the people coming from subcontinent and far east which provided a quality low cost labor for Americans. Pakistanis and Indians who settled in different cities of US worked much harder than residents hence produced greater economy. Even Americans admit that their power lie in people who were immigrants and gave their skills to America. Now sending such awesome people back to their places, MQM is going to do a big damage with Karachi. It’s like a suicide for Karachi. This skilled labor would try to serve other parts of the country and here we would be countinue whining against Pathans,pUnjabis or what not.
And while I am talking about “reasons” for existance of Pathans in Karachi, don’t take me wrong. I just mentioned the outcome of this conflict. I belive they don’t need a reason to live in Karachi. Karachi is one of the city of Pakistan which is our home and in my home I don’t look for a reason to stay in one room or other. It’s my choice where do I stay.
The issues between Pathans and Urdu speaking is not new. In late 80s I witnessed Mohajir-Pathan clash in most of the areas. Now things have gone more worst now. Both pathans and MQM have enough weapons that they can turn this Karachi a Beirut. Today there are more Pathans in 80s. I m afraid that if this clash propagates further then many Urdu speaking populaiton would be in danger. There is a massive population of Pathans jus few kilometers away from my area at Pahar Ganj. Imagine if they retilate, what would we do? this is not our fault. Not all urdu speaking people follow MQM. Those days are gone when MQM==Urdu speaking community. Things have changed a lot. Once this clash gets serious, we the Karachiites would be in great trouble because we cant run away to London, USA and other countries. We have to live here anyway. I will not be surprised if Altaf gives a statement that people who were involved in Mumbai attacks were actually Pathans who hired boats to reach Mumbai.

What you say about Pathans and Punjabis doing blue collar jobs and Muhajirs shying away from them is very true. Muhajirs are very lazy and have their heads in the skies.
Every ethnicity has good and bad people. Pathans must stay in Karachi or in whatever city they like; it’s nobody’s business to tell anyone where to live.
You said it right, Urdu speaking = MQM is NO MORE. And, it’s was never 100% either. Those who went with JI never of course liked MQM. To the people of Karachi, espeically Muhajirs, fear the day when your kartoot (i.e. supporting Altaf) will come back to huant you.
I also share the fear that Karachi is being isolated from rest of the Pakistan. May be Mustafa Kamal The Mayor = President of Secular State of Karachi in the future? I truly pray to Allah that that’s not the case.

Weren’t it our beloved Pashtoon brothers who brought and used illegal weapons in Karachi before the loathed Muhajirs did? Do you suffer from MQM-phobia that makes you not even mention the ANPs dirty politics?
Pathans do these jobs because they are mostly uneducated. If they leave, don’t you worry, these tasks would be taken over very soon by other people, and you wouldn’t be dying of hunger by not eating karahi at afridi inn.
I am against both parties and their dirty politics, but you should not take anyone’s side. Pathans and Muhajirs are integral part of Karachi and they should live in harmony for the greater good of everyone.
Regarding Talibanisation, didn’t these maddened mullahs said it on several occassion that they will restart their “efforts” (jiddojehed) from Karachi? What jiddojehed these terrorists were talking about. (I think they were talking about opening girls schools in Pashtun areas of Karachi so that their daughters can get some education too)

LOL, kid i might know mqm guys more than you because many of my friends and few relatives worked with MQM at 90 so don’t lecture me about MQM. As far as weapons are concerned, pathans might have it for long time but then MQM is here till 85 with lots of weapons thats why they were able to handle Army in 92.
And why these riots only started in Pathan-majority areas in Karachi?
because MQM’s goons deliberately initiated the riot in those areas. Don’t forget few months back there were blasts in pathan majority areas. MQM foolishly blamed TALIBANS. Why would talibans would dos uch thing in pathans areas?
Thing is,MQM is doing dirty job which it did back in late 80s against Pathans and whole Karachi got rocked.
Karachi is NOT MQM’s property. get it!

Assalamualaikum,
The situation in Karachi seems quite bad. Although, I am quite hopeful that this trailer of yesterday’s riots should show the mirror to both communities (mohajairs and pashtoons) as in case of any mis-happine, what we noticed yesterday would be 10x more.
It is the time for the leaders of both communities that they should calm down their people, as if they don’t do that then the masses will do the justice itself, but then it will be extremely late.
Yesterday I saw only common people who were looted, beaten, their properties burnt etc.
I would also request to all the people that don’t shout in your own areas, go to the areas where both communities live together and you will see how they spend life. Believe me, the masses don’t believe or see any such thing as Altaf Hussain has been saying. If anyone don’t believe my words, then please go out (don’t only listen to Altaf Hussain’s speeches or media) and take a survey of some areas in Karachi. You will then see the truth.

Aray Adnan bhai, aap to lagta hai pathano se bhi baray pathaan hain. Not even ANP is holding MQM responsible for recent riots in Karachi, but has the view that some elements are trying to create a tense situation in Karachi to create a rift between Pathans and Urdu-speaking. That is why both have sat together to work it out. And you have been blaming MQM without being able to have any evidence of who is doing it.

Pakiboy I am not one who is beliving in media reports. This is media who have made Pakistan responsible for mumbai terrorism. All I said is based on what’s happening in different areas. MQM people are forcing pathans to close their businesses. I don’t care what ANP says or MQM. Such political gimmicks are good to hear only.

I am an outsider here and I guess I have no rights to comment on this situation. But same thing could have happened in Mumbai. Much before those terrorists rocked Mumbai, Raj Thakrey was rocking Mumbai. Like Anti Pathan or Anti Muhajir, sorry but are you still called muahjir in your own motherland and doesn’t that hurt, Mumbai was filled with North Indians AKA Biharis or peoplr from UP and Marathi Manoos. Siras said, united we stand and divided we fall, when will we the south asians will understand this? I already see ourselves in 3 pieces and these 3 are trying to get converted into more pieces. Thanks to our leaderships on both sides of the border.
