Wikipedia refused to remove Images of Prophet(SAW) by referring Shias
Cunning attempt that’s all I can say. From Guardian:
Wikipedia, the free online encyclopaedia, is refusing to remove medieval artistic depictions of the Prophet Muhammad[saw], despite being flooded with complaints from Muslims demanding the images be deleted.
Wikipedia refers Shias to keep such images on Wiki page:
Wikipedia recognises that there are cultural traditions among some Muslim groups that prohibit depictions of Muhammad and other prophets and that some Muslims are offended when those traditions are violated. However, the prohibitions are not universal among Muslim communities, particularly with the Shia who, while prohibiting the images, are less strict about it.
Regardless of what one thinks, all I know that Islam’s point of view about images is not different than Jewish point of view which was clearly stated in Ten Commandments :
(Exodus 20:4-5)
You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me

This is just sick. Just because you find more people drawing pictures of holy people in Iran, Iraq doesn’t mean it’s right and it is certainly NO justification for putting up pictures on Wikipedia!

I would like to clear as a shia our point of view on this matter, we believe that it is permissible to create pictures of Holy Personalities only if due deference and respect is observed, and the scene does not contain anything that would detract from their holy pictures in the minds of the viewers.
All the pictures on wikipedia are basically excerpts from ancient art and there’s nothing which undermines the personality of our Holy Prophet (SAWW) or shows disrespect towards Him (SAWW).
