Election 2008:Didn’t Imran Khan miss the chance?

Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 9:41 am

While I was in Islamabad, I was asked by many colleagues about my “favorite” political party and asked whether I had any option for vote casting. Almost all of them said that they would not give vote to any one since Imran boycotted elections and they felt which I also second that Imran has missed the chance to gain more seats in 2008 elections.

Imran Khan has emerged as in influential leader after CJ Saga. He was heard more when he decided to take action against Altaf Hussain, the grand goon of Militant Qomi Movement(MQM).

Yes we all know that these elections would not be fair and free but how come this situation is different than 2002 elections when Imran also participated? I think Imran had more fan following than past after his courageous political steps. He was appreciated more when He was prisoned and activated students at LUMS and PU.

Endorsing all points and concerns raised by Imran, I still believe that Imran should not have missed this opportunity. Intentially or Unintentially he has given another chance to old professional looters to gain power and screw this country more. If Imran was decided to take part in tomorrow’s selection, I was definately going to vote him. Who should I vote? I have been given no option other than MQM, PPP,QAAF league and MMA. Indirectly or directly, Imran’s step is making me to be part of another corrupt government in Pakistan since my vote will be misused and more corrupt people will come into power. Sorry Imran but you missed the chance of winning Political World cup.

  1. absolutely right. I had firms plans to vote him but he never “STOOD UP ” :)

i think he shud be given a chance as we have seen enough of jahil ppl.

Ab vote kis ko dey banda. Choor aur dako he hain bus.

  2. may ALLAH bless ur mother and father.
    Ur self as well :)

  3. Get off your ass and vote like a man. Think about the best option, only then. Keeping out religious, political and blood relations. Had he stood, I wouldn’t have voted for him, without care if anyone else did or didn’t.

  4. vote like a man? calm down kid! did you even read the entire post? and can you educate me about the BEST OPTION?

  5. Kid yourself, not me, thank you. Best option? I can’t tell you that, go figure that out yourself. Haha!

  6. I had forgot your belonging. Offcourse in Punjab voters would either vote to Chudharies or to Nawaz. Fewer would vote to PPP and MMA.

DO remember I am from Karachi and NOT supporting to MQM.

  7. Aoa
well the fact tht he boycotted the elections reflects his inability for the job, just like MMA… plus all he did was talk..
i voted for MQM only because they actually DID something… how can anyone deny the changes in Karachi? tht doesnt mean i think they are amazing, it was just the relatively better option..
i know they all are corrupt.. i dont blame them, corrupt ppl get corrupt leaders
    peace

  8. @Mawi.

Speaking of MMA, if you are a karachiite then you would not deny that development of Karachi was actually started by Naimatullah Khan in his tenure when he came up some good development projects which were not only acknowledged by Musharraf but MQM as well despite of MQM(in Sind govt) tried their level best to stop funding those project.

MQM’s local govt had severe pressure to keep that pace because Karachiites had started appreciating efforts by old Naimatullah Khan. Most of projects implemented by Kamal were actually put forward by Naimat’s govt. Definitely Kamal’s govt also tried their best to bring changes in Karachi but it’s also a fact they also kept their “little share” in every project so that they could donate back to Altaf in London. In short, both Kamal and Naimat did great for Karachi but you can’t give entire credit to MQM since it was not “innovated” by them.

  9. Well I am an all round Pakistani but I have rightist inclinations. And I really don’t mind if some even gives a vote to MQM or not. It should all be in, with an honest heart, ‘the best interest of the country.’ And ofc we can be wrong too.

  10. the best interest of the country.

LOL- what else could I expect from a Musharraf supporter. This is the line that dictator kept repeating in his entire tenure.

  11. I would’vevoted for Imran as well but he did not stand up this time :(

I doubt if that would’ve made any real difference as the elections were rigged anyway… so even if imran got whole of the votes.. he would still lose to those luteraas and dakoos and bhatta khors… as they rig every time they contest…

  12. so it was innovated by Naimatullah .. maintained by MQM and further exceeded by MQM
