Election 2008: before and after US intervention

Thursday, February 28th, 2008

We the awam always get wonder how US poke in every “domestic” affair of Pakistan. We even get confused when listen anti-US statements of every politician(and dictators) that US can’t dictate us and we do every thing for sake of Pakistan’s Interest

Recently PPP and PML(n) gained lots of seats and defeated Musharraf’s brain child( or say illegal child) PML(Q). PML(n) and Pakistan Zardari Party a.k.a Pakistan Peoples Party have been giving anti musharraf statements but then something happened. Our very own and oldest friend USoA came in middle and changed the scene. First read the following statement.

Before US Internention

Sharif, Zardari unite against Musharraf (NDTV)

We are trying to form a national consensus government,” added Asif Ali Zardari.

Then Zardari met “Someone”

and after that….

No immediate need for Musharraf’s impeachment: Amin Fahim

and then… output of US’ global poking..

Asif says he will seek to work with Musharraf

Wow!!… Khaliq Khaqi summarizd entire situaton very beautifully in his cartoon.

God bless America!

Youtube banned in Pakistan

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

I just opened my laptop and logged on Gtalk. I found various mails by friends who gave me a bad news that Youtube has been banned in Pakistan. I had not believed it because I was able to access it since 3.00 PM but just tried again and found out that it has been banned. Following is the result of ping to both youtube.com and uk.youtube.com:

Pinging uk.youtube.com [208.65.153.238] with 32 bytes of data:

I exactly don’t know what’s the actual reason but yaar log says that there were some videos published on Youtube which were singing praises of free and fair election in Pakistan.

CNN fired his producer due to his personal blog

Thursday, February 21st, 2008

CNN fired his producer due to his personal blog.

Chez Pazien, the ex-producer started bloggin just to kill time. This is cruel. Unlike Idiot ex-Google employee Mark Jen, he didn’t share any thing which was harmful for his ex-company.

Why are we bloggers so dangerous for companies? does such actions indicate that blogging is getting influential day by day? are we taken serious? Share your thoughts if you want to.

Here is the list of fired bloggers due to their sin(blogging)

A pakistani voter or Pakistan?

Tuesday, February 19th, 2008

This picture in today’s Jang which really touched me. This respected Amma had actually been waiting for her turn so that she could cast the vote. The situation is not different than Pakistan which have  been waitin for 60 years for its turn to see true prosperity, honesty, awareness of each others rights and democracy. She is trying to save herself from heat just like our Pakistan had been trying to save us from all kind of sorrows, hardships, humiliaty and slavery which have been tasted by nations who have still been struggling for their independence. My question is, how long this elder lady and many other respected elders in our country would keep struggling to save us from all kind of sorrows and crap? How long our elder and tired Pakistan would be able to save us from the heat of miseries? Do we need some external “dose” to realize that we have grown up now to save our elders, our aged and tired Pakistan? Has the time not come to give shelter to this old Amma? Has the time not come to support our aged country? You guys are sensible and wise. Figure out yourself!

What happened to Pakistani map?

Monday, February 18th, 2008

Like any other Pakistani news paper, Jang also published several pages about today’s election. While going thru the paper, I found a Pakistani map on the page which is very new for me because this map used to appear only in foriegn referrences.

This was new for me on Pakistani papers because since childhood we have been studying following map in text books specially in Pakistani Studies books.

As you can see in this map, Jammu and Kashmir is part of Pakistan’s map which is called as Occupied Kashmir in Pakistan while Pakistan’s Azad Kashmir is Indian’s Occupied Kashmir. India has always been shown this region as part of their map while I was used to of above Pakistani map while I was a student but this change is new for me, not sure it shows change in our so called Kashmir policy or… another sign of progessiveness?

Wikipedia refused to remove Images of Prophet(SAW) by referring Shias

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

Cunning attempt that’s all I can say. From Guardian:

Wikipedia, the free online encyclopaedia, is refusing to remove medieval artistic depictions of the Prophet Muhammad[saw], despite being flooded with complaints from Muslims demanding the images be deleted.

Wikipedia refers Shias to keep such images on Wiki page:

Wikipedia recognises that there are cultural traditions among some Muslim groups that prohibit depictions of Muhammad and other prophets and that some Muslims are offended when those traditions are violated. However, the prohibitions are not universal among Muslim communities, particularly with the Shia who, while prohibiting the images, are less strict about it.

Regardless of what one thinks, all I know that Islam’s point of view about images is not different than Jewish point of view which was clearly stated in  Ten Commandments :

(Exodus 20:4-5)

You shall not make for yourself an idol, whether in the form of anything that is in heaven above, or that is on the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, punishing children for the iniquity of parents, to the third and the fourth generation of those who reject me

Election 2008:Didn’t Imran Khan miss the chance?

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

While I was in Islamabad, I was asked by many colleagues about my “favorite” political party and asked whether I had any option for vote casting. Almost all of them said that they would not give vote to any one since Imran boycotted elections and they felt which I also second that Imran has missed the chance to gain more seats in 2008 elections.

Imran Khan has emerged as in influential leader after CJ Saga. He was heard more when he decided to take action against Altaf Hussain, the grand goon of Militant Qomi Movement(MQM).

Yes we all know that these elections would not be fair and free but how come this situation is different than 2002 elections when Imran also participated? I think Imran had more fan following than past after his courageous political steps. He was appreciated more when He was prisoned and activated students at LUMS and PU.

Endorsing all points and concerns raised by Imran, I still believe that Imran should not have missed this opportunity. Intentially or Unintentially he has given another chance to old professional looters to gain power and screw this country more. If Imran was decided to take part in tomorrow’s selection, I was definately going to vote him. Who should I vote? I have been given no option other than MQM, PPP,QAAF league and MMA. Indirectly or directly, Imran’s step is making me to be part of another corrupt government in Pakistan since my vote will be misused and more corrupt people will come into power. Sorry Imran but you missed the chance of winning Political World cup.

Enlightened fools by Ansar Abbasi

Sunday, February 17th, 2008

It’s been two weeks that I didn’t get chance to write anything. I was in Islamabad on official trip which was hectic, tense and frustrating. My mother got ill too which she didn’t tell while I was Islamabad and I have been seriously planning to switch the job due to it’s relocation nature and would prefer to have one which doesn’t involve travelling a lot due to my family issue. So all these things didn’t allow me to thnk anything and write here therefore I am just sharing a touching article  by Ansar Abbasi which published in The News. Thanks Tariq bhai who shared this via Gtalk.

So called enlightened souls a.k.a Liberals/Secularists never mis a chance to amaze me(and others). The articles in The News is another example of liberal fascism. From The News.

“Sir if you don’t mind we are looking for some moderate faces,” was the first words of an organiser that pierced through our ears as soon as we sat on a sofa in the school’s office where the crew of a private television channel had arrived to interview parents of three short-listed students, including my child, for some sort of show/competition in Karachi.

eh,Moderate faces? this is the term which sounds more funny than weired.  So I am a moderate face because I am a clean shaved person? I don’t shave daily, does it mean the other day I start aproaching towards conservatism? What kind of these(liberals/seculars) morons are? As I always say that leftist cult MUST GETRID OF filth among their own community first than preach others(the right wingers) so that one could take these whiners seriously.

A good news for feminists: Men not required!

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

It seems that British scientist have finally heard the “voice” of women rights champions a.k.a feminists and have found a way to throw men out from their lives :-) From Dailymail:

British scientists are ready to turn female bone marrow into sperm, cutting men out of the process of creating life.

All children born due to this process will be females due to absence of Y chromosomes. So other great wish might come true since they will not give birth a “man” regardless of high chances of birth defects.

the news reported by Slashdot. As usual nerds gave some interesting funny remarks which you can read yourself.

Local IT talent: Can we stop Ibad?

Friday, February 1st, 2008

Pakistan is a very unfortunate country that it has lot of talent in various fields of life. The reason I said unfortunate because we always get failed to take advantage of our local resources and outsiders take full advantage of them and use them for their economy. We have habit to ofend local talent due to some lame reason whether it’s field of science and technology, education or arts, we love to ignore our talent and when it’s respected by others then we run after them. The very latest example is Pakistani comedians like Shakil Teeli,Kashif Khan and Rauf lala who were never respected in Pakistan but when India gave them respect then they are now invited in different cermonies. Irony!

Two and half years back I made a post about some local talent which were not respected in home which made an excuse to leave this country and earn outside. I mentioned about Adnan sabzwari who had made Pakistan’s first animated movie back in 90s when we could not think about animation in Pakistan then I made a post on the occasion of Pakistan’s 60th birthday and made an attempt to pay tribute our IT stars who made us proud in outer world. Most of people mentioned in that post left Pakistan for sake of better future since they were not able to do much in this country which actually pays more respect to ignorant and illetrate politicians than talented people.

Recently I came across an interview about a local IT talent in Jang paper who made a software to overcome plane hijacking.

Meet Ibad Ahmad who belongs to IT field. Ibad has made an anti-hijacking system which can regain the control of plane with in a minute!Yes, within a minute.

Details of the system are not mentioned( and I can understand the reason) . The article says he and his pals started this project but all of his pals got disappointed and leave him but this courageous guy never gave up and kept trying and one day he became successfull.

The thing which actually impressed me is NOT the technology but his passion for this country. When the interviewer asked him that why didn’t he sell his solution to some foriegn or 3rd party company, he said, “My objective is not to earn money only, I want to open the doors for other youngesters as well. If I would have sold this system to someone then could I serve my country?”

Amazing, simply amazing. This guy deserves to be respected but the question is, can our appreciation be helpful for him? Like majority of youngers, Ibad is pretty much disappointed about the future of software development in Pakistan.

Ibad has given a deadline of 18th Feb. After that like many other fresh brains, he would also fly to US or Europe where he would be given a respect which he deserves and money which he could not get in Pakistan. I am sure Ibad would not feel comfortable since it would give him pain that his services are not being helpful for his own people. When Ibad will get famous in western world due to his work then we would come out of ignorance and think, “Oh , he’s the same guy who made something for our comfort but we threw him out”. we will then respect him and give him job offers. In urdu there is an idiom, Thook kay Chaatna. we are like such people. Curse upon us. I don’t know how many more Ibads we have to lose. All I know that we have to stop this brain drain anyway. If we really have to export something then we should export our flith in the form of politicians so that it could be helpful for us. I just hope that someone read about him and can do something for his product.

Ibad also claims that he could make a security system which can guard banks, pumps etc and there would be no need to hire guards. Ironically he’s not being taken seriously. We literally going to lose a gem due to our ignorance. I don’t know how to stop this guy. Can you stop Ibad for sake of this country?
