Heaven on Earth for Pakistani Ministers
Last year I shared a piece of info about the facilities enjoyed by a Pakistani Minister. Many people said that it’s fake and impossible but today I was shared a news by Khurram, who commented on my earlier post. According to today’s Dawn:
In a country where the public per capita health expenditure is measly Rs360, the government spent Rs65 million on overseas treatment of just 18 bigwigs mostly for diseases that could be treated within the country and that too at a fraction of the cost.
it further reveals:
some 18 politicians and bureaucrats benefited from the facility on the special approval of Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, spending an amount that was enough to run a tertiary care hospital for a whole year and 13 times more than what the government was spending on prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (high blood pressure, diabetes, heart diseases and stroke), a major cause of mortality and disability in the country.
the story got started by Sher Afgan when he convinced the PM that his heart can’t be cured in Pakistan. Well, the ignorance often demonstrated by Afgan niazi can’t be treated anywhere on earth. Anyways, he got succeeded and managed to go abroad for treatment.
The interesting piece of statment was given by MQM’s Kunwar Khalid Younis:
MNA Kunwar Khalid Yunus, who got the highest allocation of Rs11 million for one-year treatment in United Kingdom, said he only utilised Rs4.5 million and remained under treatment for just three months and was continuing his medication at Agha Khan.
and when he was asked that why didn’t he think about poor Pakistanis first, what he replied is simply priceless.
Don’t you think that after being a parliamentarian for almost two decades I deserved this much privilege
Boht Aala Kunwar Sahab! Let me remind you that your Quaid-e-Tehrik Altaf Hussain always whined that MQM belongs to Middle class of Karachi and MQM understand the pain of middle class. I am seriously confused whether Pakistani middle class has made so much improvement that they could enjoy such luxury or MQM’s planning for such elite middle class future class or you’re just fooling us?

Sources said that Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, who has very close liaison with the top bureaucracy in running the government, had been requested to provide similar facilities to retired Federal Secretaries as were given by Punjab government to retired Chief Secretaries of the province.
They said that post-retirement (lifetime) facilities, which have been recommended for the federal secretaries, included services of a driver, to be appointed by a former retired secretary himself, services of a cook/naib qasid, security guard along with two prohibited and one non-prohibited bore licences, pick and drop services along with a staff car for three days and protocol on arrival at Islamabad airport.
While backing the proposal, sources said, the Cabinet Division had argued that federal secretaries constitute the highest level in civil administration and qualify for these privileges after a lifetime service and deserved a suitable package of facilities for them which was long overdue, sources added.
