Benazir denies involvement of Talibans, govt insists

Disclaimer: This post contains images which are disturbing and not appropiate for those who are faint-hearted.

It seems that Musharraf’s radical secularist regime has got involved so much in US’ ass-kissing that they have now adapted the yank attitude that is, to blame Talibans or wazristan tribesmen for any shit happen on Pakistan just like Americans wouldn’t hesitate to blame Usama Bin Laden if their kids pee in pants. Benazir Bhutto has clearly denied that she was attacked by Taliban or Islamist millitant on 18th October and she and her husband blaming Pakistani detective agencies for this Holocaust.

In a press conference,Benazir blamed Zia Elements(which she use for retired Army officiers who are involved in this sabotage) . B.B said:

On Oct 16, before returning home, I wrote a letter to Gen Musharraf in which I informed him that if anything happens to me as a result of these attacks, then I will neither nominate the Afghan Taliban, nor Al Qaeda, not even Pakistani Taliban or the fourth group. I will nominate those people who, I believe, mislead the people. I have spelt out names of such people in the letter

Ms.Bhutto further reveals:

I have named three people, and more, in that letter to Gen Musharraf. I have named certain people with a view to the attack that took place yesterday so that if I was assassinated, who should be investigated

Earlier it was said that Baitullah Mehsood has threatened B.B that His guys would attack on her arrival but many resources have denied that no such statement was made and it was a plan to associate statement with Mehsood so that Govt or its agencies could perform their task easily. According to this news strory:

there is no evidence that Baitullah Mehsud has issued any threat to target Benazir Bhutto. Members of his group in South Waziristan and Tank said they were unaware that a threat was issued. Requesting anonymity, they pointed out that Baitullah Mehsud, in the rare statements that he has issued till now, never made any such threat. They said his spokesman, Zulfiqar Mehsud, too, had not made any threat of suicide bombing at Benazir Bhutto.

The question is, who’s spreading all such news? Even when I read the statement which is said by Mehsud, I found no authentic source that how did they get the infro from Mehsood and gave it to newspapers? Usually when Osama says something, some medium is used like Aljazeera, audiotapes or Internet while there was no such involvement during Mehsood case. But wait! this is not enough, dictator’s secular regime also tried to convince that blast was nothing but a suicidal attempt.

Interesting! For those who can’t read Urdu, Jameel Soomro, Bilawal House’s spokesman has denied Govt’s point of view that it was a suicidal attack. According to Soomro, eyewitnesses said that Bomb was actually installed in a car which was very near to Benazir’s special Truck. Soomro asks that if they were suicidal attacks then why no head of attacker has been found yet and why two attacks were done? Usually attacker doesn’t need to perform series of attack since they are actually targeted attacks. Rajiv Gandhi was killed by Tamils, it was only a woman who performed the task. Similarly recent suicidal attacks in Pakistan carried on different places were handled single-handedly rather by a team so it clearly reflect a big flaw in official government statements. On other hand Govt official Cheema also not being able to give any satisfactory answer but insist on statements of his department. On other hand former PPP person Naserullah Babar also denies involvement of Baitullah Mehsood.

Actually what Soomro said is not wrong, govt officials are still not able to find any proof of what they have said. Kindly read the following statement!

He said that we can not be sure whether the head found from near the incident place was that of the suicide bomber and the identity would be established once the interrogation was completed.

Excuse me? You ain’t sure that you found head near the incident or somewhere else and you’re making statement that you found a SUICIDER’s HEAD?

It seems that officials heads have started spinning anti-clockwise and they don’t know what crap are they talking about. On other hand govt has published the picture of head of person whom they are labeling as Suicide bomber.

Just look at this pic. He doesn’t have any beard or Turban. Even if he was some teenage Taliban or militant as govt claimed then he should have beard on his face. In past if any head was found then it did have beard on face while this is not the case with this picture. Infact, if you take a closer look, you will realize that the guy actually has Sindhi looks rather some Tribesman so it DOES PROVE point of PPP sources at the moment that it was not a Talibanized .he’s some poor PPP worker who was very near to the incident

Even if it was then I think it was done by Zia Elements as Benazir suggested.

Infact controversies don’t end here. There is another story going around about street lights. PPP officials are saying that street lights were turned off on the location of attack. KESC tried to protect itself and blamed local civil agencies that they would be responsible for the issue. According to Dawn:

Operation and maintenance of streetlights is the responsibility of local civic agencies. The KESC supplies electricity to the civic agencies at source and its distribution is their responsibility.

Will Govt reveal the names of people who have been named by Benazir in her letter to Musharraf? who are those people? why Mush regime not disclosing their names? are they their own mistakes?

Instead of making efforts to find out truth, desi leftists extreme forces has started same blame game against Mullah,Madarassah and Islam. Pakisaniat.com which is a famous desi leftist website is promoting one sided liberals’ point of view about recent tragedy and censoring every comment which is being made to refuting baseless and hollow claims of site authors and leftist commenters. Such Immature attitude can entertain certain faction but can’t hide truth.

  1. JUS Says:

Pakistaniat.com is devoted to the personal agenda of the who-know-who to such a point that it dominates his worldview invalidating his ability to act as a neutral scholar on Islamic-related topics. For him, a “darghiwala” Muslim is a Muslim who challenges his views on secularism and a “good” Muslim is one who agrees with them. On the other hand, everyone upon whom he bestows the “good” badge is either a lone wolf with no credibility in the Muslim mainstream, an apologist for his own radical views on the Islam, or both. They (he and his gang) constantly gripe about Talibans, as more and more Pakistanis have come to realize that All Things Pakistan i.e. pakistaniat.com is part of the establishment.

    You wrote on KMB:
Viqar Minai said pretty right on Pakistaniat. com about the attitude of site managers. I think that, with every issue, the ATP moderators should either publish a list of acceptable opinions that we are allowed to express or, better yet, put out a standard message to express the reaction to the atrocity in Karachi yesterday. All the rest of us can dutifully rubber stamp that approved statement and go home. When Hypocrisy and biasness are at peak, it’s folly to raise voice.
The bold statement should be applicable on this and other forums as well.

But saying the RIGHT thing is not the criteria at ATP, you must also fit the mold.
BTW that Viqar Minai post you mentioned above has been deleted by the CENSOR at ATP. Here is what another commentator AUK said: Raza, Owais. Are you now becoming part of the establishment too, by blocking comments that don’t seem to state the obvious, and that try not to look at this incident as an isolated incident, but part of a big picture? If we can’t have an open discussion here then where.

They (pakistaniat.com) are not just against darhi-walas. They fail to understand the taqwa and love some of the natives show for Islam and its values.

But that’s not all, they simply don’t tolerate view that contridicts their opinion and agenda, not just on Islamic issues but most any issue. Just recently a commentator calling himself/herself Pa(kiss)tani who was offering an alternative view on Al Gore and the Noble prize and therefore the research of the IPCC panel, wrote at KMB:

Maybe he was a Sindhi/Makrani Taliban. Talibans aren’t pathan only.

As for not having a beard, he shaved it off to mingle with the moderates.

  5. Zainub Says:

Thank you for comprehensive round up of the media coverage of this issue, Adnan. But I do have one complain, please put up a disclaimer in posts when you’re publishing images that others may find disturbing. I admire your courage in the ability to look at the image above carefully and even perform an analysis of the facial features, but not everyone has such courage. I’d appreciate if this came with warning for viewer discretion.

To the point raised in your post it self, I do not who was behind the attacks, there are plenty of theories doing the rounds and I am not an expert on this subject matter so I wouldn’t know. It may well be that the Bibi is right and this is master plan of ‘Zia elements’ as she has termed them, and it may be possible that it was done by Taliban; some others have blamed Bibi her self for engineering this, so, as I said, no shortage of theories. They’re all theories at this stage, one would hope things clear out whenever the official inquiry is complete (though you never tend to associate too much hope with any ‘official’ inquiries). Having said that, I do think at the same time that militancy and some people taking up arms in the name of religion is a growing problem. We should recognize this, and work towards solving it, rather then living in denial about it. Condemning such ideologies is in the better interest of Islam it self. I repeat I do know such ideologies were responsible for these attacks, but that I do recognize that they’re a problem that exists and that we ought to deal with.

If the Bibi indeed send that letter of Musharraf, then it is binding on one of them to inform the public of the names of the people mentioned in that letter. A security analyst would be better equipped to analyze the other facts presented in your post, so I will refrain from further commentating on that.

As for the discussion about Pakistaniat, as some one whose struggled to cope with the often crude nature of comments that people put forward at the Karachi Metroblog, I can, at some level, relate to why Pakistaniat may be doing what they’re doing. If you start a post on chickens, you don’t want to see the discussion in the comments start off from eggs, and proceed to omelettes and eventually to curies of eggs and potatoes. That’s what usually tends to happen, both on Pakistaniat and at KMB, people drift and drift into completely off topic discussions. Some commentators have the misconception that every thread is a canvas for them to discuss their own socio-political ideologies. Blogs are not “public space”. They’re people’s blogs and the people who own them have reserve the right to set forth any terms for what kind of discourse is acceptable and what its not. Just like we’re entitled to have our own rules in our own homes.

Having said that, that does not mean one should disapprove differing opinions made in civil, dignified way, just because they present a differing opinion. I have tried my best not to do that in my moderating attempts at Karachi Metroblog, allowing comments about atheism and hadith rejection in a post about an Islamic lecture, editing out profanities, swearing and personal attacks wherever possible (still I get labeled by some commentator as having a ‘PEMRA’ like attitude). But moderating is time consuming excersize, especially for high-traffic websites like KMB and Pakistaniat. So it wouldn’t be surprising if at some point in time, an author just loses patience and filters out every comment that presents a differing view point. That would be sad.

  6. admin Says:

@zainab: kindly don’t compare one blog(KMB) with other(pakistaniat) neither the mentality of readers of both sites are same nor management.
I might be associated with the site long before than you(that’s since beginning as I made one of very earliest post on the website) so have more idea about them than you?

There were no irrelevant comments on those sites made by others. If you read responses of atp users on my site, you would realize that ATP management had blocked many comments which were valid. I would add further that I have access to management so I can figure out what’s going on so please, don’t make efforts to justify something which you have no idea at all.

as far as disclaimer, i had no idea at all, would need guidance of yours what kinda disclaimer are you talking about.

    Thanks

  7. Zainub Says:

I didn’t justify, in fact I said it was “sad” if that is indeed what was happening. What I did do though was give some background context to what might eventually drive people to do this, but I didn’t rationalize that as being right. I obviously don’t doubt that you know more about that management and its readers than do, so perhaps my own understanding about its origin may be incorrect, wallu hu alam, but I am entitled all the same to hold these views. And I thought I had made my views public with a reasonable amount of respect, I don’t see why the tone in your proceeding post should be as confrontational as it seems. In any case, apologies if I cause offense, none was intended.

By a disclaimer I meant something to the effect of a message to your readers at the top of the post warning that the post contains images that some may find disturbing and so read ahead with discretion and only if you’re not faint hearted. That’s standard ethics for posting images of mutilated body parts and corpses.

  8. admin Says:

zainab, you re entitled to your opinion what you said and whatever you mentioned above was accurate according to IDEAL situation which was not the case with ATP.

I don’t see why the tone in your proceeding post should be as confrontational as it seems. In any case, apologies if I cause offense, none was intended

you got it wrong neither you have offended me anyway. I was just disagreeing with your comparison of two weblogs. KMB is a free style blog where rules are not followed , neither readers NOT authors as well so KMB is the worst example for such case.

  9. admin Says:

Infact I am sorry if I sound harsh to you while there was no such thing at all. I do talk a bit aggressive but it doesn’t mean I am putting my words in your mouth.
