Yeh Laal Rang Kab Mujhe Chorey Ga

zulm phir zulm hai, baDtaa hai to miT jaataa hai
khoon phir khoon hai, Tapkegaa to jam jaayegaa

zulm ki baat hi kyaa, zulm ki auqaat hi kyaa
zulm bas zulm hai, aagaaz se anjaam talak

khoon phir khoon hai, sau shaql badal saktaa hai
aesee shaqleN ke miTaao to miTaaye na bane
aese sholay ke bujhaao to bujhaaye na bane
aese naaray ke dabaao to dabaaye na bane!

Kishore Kumar and Me

Saturday, August 4th, 2007

This post might be unexpected and unusual for the readers who have been reading me for many months but not for THOSE who are with me since beginning because I often discussed things about past. This post is also an attempt to open the door of my past. This is the first time I am writing about my hot favorite singer as well as friend Kishore Kumar or Kishore da and prolly last time as well because I will not have anything further to discuss about him. Someone might get surprised what’s so special to discuss him after 1 and half years of blogging? well, I just came to know that tomorrow that is 4rth August is his Birth day so I think it’s right time to share associated memories with you. It’s a loong journey, from Kishore to Ka’aba with no relation with each other, prolly there is one? anyway, read on.

I don’t remember when did I hear Kishore Kumar first time because I had been listening him since childhood. My mamoo used to hear him. Dad used to listen old songs on All India Radio in the morning after BBC news and in night so I don’t remember which song exactly I like. I remember first few songs I heard by him were “Dekha Ek Khuwab tu Ye silsilay Huway”,”LArki Ya Ya Shola” both from Silsila. Actually almost every song of that Movie was cool. Then I remember that my other uncle used to hear Chingari Koi Bharkay and few more.

First time I started listening him seriously when I was in 9th grade and my childhood frined who was fan of kishore and other old singers, gave me a cassette of Kumar Sanu who was very new at that time(91/92) and used to copy kishore. I got the cassette from him and I LISTENED kishore’s song first time . Songs like Ghungroo ki tarha , Merey Naina Sawan Bhado, were not new for my ears but I had never paid attention to them.

I really started liking the songs by him. Infact I started listening his solo or sad songs first. Chingari Koi Bharkey was really a classic song, a very different song. I also liked other said songs like “Ghungroo k tarha” or “Koi Hamdam na raha” etc. The reason I was liking more such songs because I thought I was getting mature or maybe I was inclined towards some lady? :)

As much as I explored songs of Kishore, I found out that I just don’t like him due to his sad songs but also songs which were filled with Advice(Naseehat). How can I ignore the classic song Zindagi ka Safar from movie Safar(Journay)? The song which was penned by Indevar was equally sung well by Kishore. Let me tell you that I was never social in life, despite of I have a big friend circle but since I am lazy enough to party around. The time I started Kishore was my school age so also busy in school work so was not used to go outside much other than playing street cricket with pals. And as I said in other post that I was very fond of music so the interest was developed after listening Kishore seriously. So being a not-so-social person, songs of Kishore and his voice had become my friend. His songs had become like oxygen and I remember I used to listen him late night in dark room, enjoying full moon light. Listening songs like Is Morh se Jatey Hain from Aandhi and Wo Shaam Kuch Ajeeb thee from Khamoshi and Merey Deewanay pan ki dawa nahin in late night used to give a different taste to me. In early 90s, there was no Internet neither I had any computer. Since I was summer vacations so I never missed any program of All India Radio and Aakash Vani radio channel where they used to play old song. Acha in early 90s, I had no idea about composer, who penned the song or other thing, all I knew it was sung by Kishore. Infact after listening songs like O Majhi Re!, Ye Laal Rang, Musafir houn Yaroun, i never bothered to find out who else behind such creation because Kishore always took the lead. Kishore also had great quality of Yoodling. Though he did yoodling in many songs but song Mey houn Jhumroo was imaginary awesome. The other song in which he did great Yoodling was Tum Bin Jaoun Kahan. Later when R.D.Burman and Gulzar also joined my favorite list then I specially tried to find songs in which these guys worked together. Songs like Teray Bina Zindagi se Shikwa from Aandhi and Janay Kia Soch kar Nai Guzra from Kinaara were my top favorite songs by these three.

He was not just copied by Indians but several famous Pakistani singers tried to copy him and sung his songs in their career. Singers like Alamgir, Sheikhi ,Sajjad Ali were great fans of Kishore and sung his famous song of that time.

I could write on and on but I have to end it somewhere. Kishore Kumar was not only favorite of my generation[Late 70s] but also young kids of late 80s and 90s liked him as well.

Though I liked almost most of his songs. I also claimed I have not listen all 35,000 songs sung by him but whatever I listen by him, I did like few of them more than others. This is not some Top-nth List so it doesn’t mean song on 1st position is my MOST HOT favorite song.

  1. Is Morh se Jatey Hain(Duet with Lata)
  2. Yeh Laal Rang Kab mujhe Chorey ga
  3. Yeh Merey Bandhey Haath
  4. Koi Hamdam Na Raha
  5. Ye Jo Mohabbat Hay
  6. Woh Shaam kuch ajeeb hay

  9. Jeewan se Bhari teri Aankhain
  10. CHingari Koi Bharkay
  11. Ye Kia Huwa, Kaise Huwa
  12. Man karay yaad wo Din
  13. Terey liye mey ne Sab ko Chora
  14. Aye Khuda har faisla tera Mujhe Manzoor hay
  15. Bari Soni Soni se hey zindagi
  16. Merey Naina Sawan Bhadoun
  17. Zindagi ka Safar
  18. Terey merey milan k ye naina
  19. Zindagi k Safar mey guzar jatey hain Subho Shaam
  20. Kora Kaghaz tha ye Man mera
  21. Jan-e-Jaan Dhoondta phir raha
  22. Moti Ho tu Bandh kar rakh doun
  23. Dekha ek Khuwab tu ye Silsilay huway
  24. Jan-e-Man Kisi ka Nam nahin
  25. Rim Jhim giray sawan
  26. Ye Raat ek se kio hoti hay
  27. Ham bewafa hargiz na thay
  28. ye dil na hota bechara
  29. Tuney hamay kia dia aye Zindagi
  30. Aap ki aankhoun mey mehkay huwa se raaz hain

The list could go on and on but these were few which I remember used to list most of the time

That’s all folks! I think many regular readers who know me as a blogger who write more about religion and politics and recently ranted about Music is not part of Islam , would consider me a hypocrite. I thought twice before making this post that whether I should have done this or not or what others think about mine? but then I just refused my own thought because first, I write for myself , second , why do I pretend? what I am today was not in past. I want that others know my past and what I was fond of in past. I hope I wouldn’t have disappointed my readers, if I have then I am sorry but my whole purpose of this post was to say something about old friend whose 78th Birthday is being celebrated today by his fans. I WAS one of Kishore’s fan.

Shoaib K liye- Webmaster removed the link of “Director’s statement” from main page of KKL

Wednesday, August 1st, 2007

Today Javeria contacted me via Meebo chat interface on my blog and asked me to provide the link of Director’s statement which I discussed earlier in this post. I just told her that it was in main page but she didn’t find. I visited Khuda K Liye’s official site after making my last post about the topic and got surprised to know that there was no link at all! first I didn’t believe at all and thought that some changes have rearranged the link but found out that link was not there anymore. I had no clue to give her. I knew I did mention it on my previous post, the statement which was the base of my entire post rather the MOVIE. I knew that like her, other users would also come to me and ask the proof whether there was such statement by him or I made it up against him just because I don’t like him anymore? I also referred the statement of Jang but that couldn’t be considered credible and I knew that Pro Shoaib or I say Pro secular and liberal groups would come to me and accuse me that I made up myself since there is no such proof on website. I didn’t take the screen shot as I didn’t consider necessary neither I had expected that DIRECOT’s STATMENT could be changed! yes changed *grin*. Shoaib’s statement was really extreme and it really got proved when the site removed the link of his statement and comeup with another link ,named SYNOPSIS in which they just targeted 9/11 issue which was the REAL content of the movie which was polluted later after Junaid’s decision to quit the movie. What Synopsis says? read now:

I again paste the excerpt of his statement which I referred earlier as well:

One morning i was going through a newspaper and i saw my friend junaid jamshed’s interview in it. After looking at his new attire in the photograph that ace the article published in it. I could not stop myself from reading it. The more i read the more sad i felt. He had announced quiting music after being convinced that it was “haram”. It really shook me very badly. I have never believed that God could hate the two most beautiful things he has given to mankind…. Music and painting.why are these the two most beautiful things i felt that a confused man like junaid had no right to confuse thousands of his youthful followers. I had given him sixteen years of my life as a true friend and had played my role in his professional life to the best of my abilities. How could he throw away our sixteen years just like that without even consulting me? I felt that it was my duty to rectify the damage he had done to the already suffering society under the influence of fundamentalists. I thought that the need of the hour was to study the whole mindset which gave birth to such wrong notions about islam. I have no doubt in my mind that instead of taking the present age fourteen hundred years back we have to bring islam to the present age. The best service to islam today is to make it applicable to modern day requirements

The mentioned para was directly hitting Junaid Jamshed, also explains the motive of the movie. His extreme statement was not only disliked by me but many other fans as well. Even Junaid himself reacted when he was asked about the movie. I am just amazed that Junaid is still praising Shoaib. Atleast I couldn’t demonstrate so much patience or maybe I have not gone thru the process like him? Shoaib didn’t ask the money but how Shoaib returned everything is visible to entire world in form of Khuda K liye. tsk tsk.

Now I would like to tell how this evening I discovered the “hidden” link. Ever heard in urdu, Chor hamesha koi saboot chor jata hay? something like that happened this evening. When a lame mistake of Webmaster helped me to find out orignal link. Read below the entire masti bhari exercise!

Khair, I had no proof to tell others. I know a blog entry is not worthy enough to be told. I tried to search google cache but I couldn’t find the link because site was in Flash. I also didn’t know file name at all because main Flash movie name was in_the_name_of_god.swf. I actually have ZERO idea about flash thingie coz I am not a designer. I am rather a programmer and architect. I downloaded Teleport Pro,the offline browser but it also didn’t grab ALL the files since such grabbers work only after parsing URL links from page and the process recursively unless the condition gets true. The link was not given in any HTML file so offline tool got failed as well. My FireFox cache was also cleaned few days back. Once a friend of mine who is a good designer told me about Flash decompilers. I thought to give it a try. I applied reverse engineering, decompiled the main SWF file and went thru all objects. I found nothing, only images, buttons and frames. Then there was a tree node about scripts. I opened that and went thru each file. One of the file had an ActionScript command to navigate pages in Flash. And see what I found.Click the image to see the clear Image.

yep! I had found the actual FLASH file name which was embedded in the main SWF file. Now I tried to access the mentioned link and what I found? The culprit which was hidden by the webmaster. Since I am sure that it would be removed later therefore I made a copy of it and uploaded on a free server. If you run the file directly, something like that would appear on your browser. Enough Said! Before I say anything why it was done, I would like to comment on the “efficieny” of Webmaster. Was it me who was extraordinary smart or the webmaster was extraordinary dumb? Being a Pakistani IT person, specially a developer, I would go for second part because this is the most common and core weakness of developers, specially web developers that they always leave the old copies of their on production server. Even I have done it many times but I just realized today that How insecure and harmful it is! this is just about a movie. Sometimes we developers leave sensitive or vulnerable code files on production servers or just rename them by adding _ or 1 or 2 as prefix or suffix. Even I also tried that to find file name on main server of movie but my manual brute force technique didn’t work at all :-). So young developers or even seniors who have been reading this blog should learn a lesson and never leave a copy online on production server. There is nothing hidden in web world. :) Now the question is, why did he do that?? Was shoaib regretting or he realized that He really spoke TOO Much against Junaid and acted like an extremist which he himself dislike? Or was he afraid that people would start thinking negative about him or something else? I don’t want to give my own statement, I leave it upto you. Whatever I had to say about the statement I already mentioned on the related post. Just would like to add something which is said in Urdu, “Chor k Darhee mey Tinka”. Since Shoaib dislike Darhee and considers it a hurdle in progressive life, I would rather make it as Chor k kaan mey Tinka . :-). Jab Pyar kia tu darna kiya! When you think that you are on RIGHT path then why are you backing up? Truth is stronger and you are claiming that Ye film aap ko sochney par Majboor kardey gi. What ShoMAn wants us to think, you can read this article on Adil Najam’s blog, the agenda of US neocons and Jewish Lobby desi Liberals and seculars. Who knows they even change the SyNOPSIS link, I got a mirror copy of it as well. So enjoy this entire “TRUE” campaign by Shoaib Mansoor and Co.

Why did I do all this? Well I already explained it plus it was an interesting evening hack, short but useful. I also learnt how to decompile Flash movies and export objects from it. :-). A masti Bhari Exercise :)
