There is always a catch. It is really true in some cases. Take gmail for instance, google have shady privacy policy itself. Even though people love free gmail service but they compromise on some level to use it. There is nothing on the inernet that can't be tracked. Tracking cookies is one example. Anyways if facebook is talking back to US agencies then there is not much we can do besides asking FB to disclose the privacy policy when new user register an account.
