Ab yehi munasib hay..
There was a time when I was a big fan of Jagjit Singh and Mehdi Hasan in ghazal singing. I had a big collection of jagjit’s ghazals. Though he sang almost every ghazal with honesty, specially ghazals of ghalib were priceless but the ghazal of Jawed Akhter Mey Bhool Jaoun Tumhey is something which I found very different.
Mey Bhool Jaoun Tumey ab yehi Munasib hay
Magar bhulana bhe chahoun tu kis tarha bhooloun
K tum tu phir bhe haqeeqat ho koi khawaab nahin
Yahan tu dil ka ye alam hay kia kahoun,Kambakht!
Bhula saka na silsila jo thaa hee nahin
Wo ek khyal
Jo awaz tak gaya he nahin
Wo ek baaat jo kah nahi saka tumse
Wo ek rabt jo hum mey kabhi raha hee nahin
Mujhe hey yaad wo sab jo kabhi huwa hee nahin
Agar ye haal hay dil ka tu koi samjhaye
Tumhe bhulana he chahoun tu kis tarha bhooloun
K tum tu phir he haqeeqat ho koi khawaab nahin
Simply awesome and touchy!

Ghazala, he has sung some good ghazals like “Dewaroun se batain karna” and almost all ghazals of his Album “Naqoosh”[i hope i recall it right?] but there is no comparison between him and Jagjit.

Dewaroun se batain karna, really touches the chords.

I have to agree with Adnan, there is no comparison between Jagjit and Punkaj.May be Punkaj and Bhopinder :).The ones i love the most are *Chithi aye hai* and *kabhi Ansoo, kabhi khusboo, kabhi naghma ban kar from Punkaj. But its so hard to pick one fav from Jagjit Singh but if i have to choose two i will say,*Hoontoon say cho lo tum* and *Wo kaghaz ki kashti wo barish ka pani*.I dont remeber buying any CD or cassettes lately as i use on-line sites to listen to the music.
