Microsoft’s Offline Blog authoring and publishing tool

Thaa Jis ka Intizaar, wo Shahkaar Agaya!. Microsoft has recently released a desktop based blog authoring tool which allows you to create your blog post offline by using familiar world like environment. Now you don’t have to use Notepad,MS Word or other editors to create Rich content posts.

Microsoft Live Writer provides a one window environment for not only creating posts but also publishing it on various different famous blogging platforms like Google’s Blogger,Wordpress, LiveJournat,Typad etc. You just configure your account, that’s it. The tool will take care rest of the things. The most amazing feature for me is publishing embedded

images in your document. I have used blogger’s MS-Word Plugin for creating offline posts for my old blog but it also didn’t have any facility. The account configuration Wizard option asks you to provide URL for RPC[Remote Procedure Call] file that’s it. Rest of the communication takes place between the tool and the blogging engine. It would automatically create the thumbnails of larger images and upload them in respective directories, depending upon your blogging engine. The last post which I published yesterday was made by using this tool. I was having difficulty to upload second image due to slow net speed otherwise first image was uploaded smoothly. You might get connection error at the end of the processing but I think it’s due to slow net speed plus it’s still beta. The other facilities provided are TAGGING,setting your comment properties that is whether you want to enable comments or not, track backs etc etc. Tag engines like Technorati,Delicious etc are built-in so you don’t need to visit sites anymore to fetch the HTML of respective tags. The other amazing thing is that Live Writer doesn’t allow generic editing environment, that is, if you are using Wordpress then it would download the template and other related stuff from your wordpress blog which could be different than other blogging engine like TyPad or LiveJournal etc.

After a long time I have loved something which was developed by Microsoft. The other product(s) which I loved in past were Visual Basic and Visual C++ IDE, no I was not in love with WINDOWS at all.

I hope this Beta product would get more mature, unlike other products, this product is yet stable and has not crashed yet. So far they have provided enough facilities[though I have not explored all] but I woulld like to see support of HTML table, embedding of vides from YouTube,Google etc and Digg IT. Best of Luck Microsoft!

Asma why masked swearing? Kindly don’t show your frustration here. I can prefer not to recieve few “human” replies but can’t tolerate to recieve infinite spams which are pain in neck. :-)
