Shokat Siddiqi passed away

The man behind classics like Khuda Ki Basti and Jangloos is no more among us. Inna Lillahye Wainna Alahye Rajioon.
Though Shokat Sahib has written several classics but Khuda Ki Basti, God’s own land was the main reason of his popularity. The novel become more popular when PTV made a series based on the novel titled Khuda Ki Basti in 1969. The drama which gave a break to Behroz Sabzwari who was working as a child star and was playing the role of Noshay. Recently Geo TV tried to make a remake of it but it didn’t had that touch which was in orignal play. I must say that Khuda Ki basti was a very bold step by Shokat Sahib and it did reveal many evils of our society.
The other novel Jangloos was also dramatized by PTV and it also gave a talented actor in the form of Shabbir Jaan.
I don’t see any good name now in urdu afsana after Shokat Siddiqi. Most of writers are just writing traditional stuff rather revolutionary.
I would like to share Raatoun Ka Sher penned by Shokat Siddiqi with my blog readers
