The last friday

Yesterday I left office right after lunch as my sister called me and told that Dad’s left arm got fractured again. It happened 7 years back too. Yesterday he lost his balance on masjid stairs. I came home as it took 10-20 mins more, thanks to MQM for their moronic Yom-e-Tashakar on Hudood bill. We moved to AO Clinic for first aid [which was not given] and took x-ray. It was a simple fracture but since he’s not strong enough due to age factor. We don’t trust AO CLINIC much so I tried to contact same doctor, Dr.Nizamuddin Jameli who operated his hand 7 years back as well. He’s like my family doctor and understands Dad’s nature. Allah ka karam he just tool 5-10 mins to adjust his arm bone and Abbu was coming out from operation theature. Operation is not a good option for old people so old traditional plaster is good for him. Mashallah he’s better now but doctor has asked for 2 months bed rest. Pray that he gets better soon. My sis and mom were also ill due to viral fever. Problem is that Abbu don’t listen us and never take proper diet. I think he should take much calcium related food to strengthen. Some reader who is a doctor could advise me in this regard.

I have received and still receiving several messages of appreciation around the world for the MSN BOT. I thank all those people who sent their suggestions, prayers for me and my family. I think this is another factor that Dad’s didn’t suffer seriously and He’s getting better. I will be Inshallah working on next version of the Bot once I solve the hosting issue mentioned here. As long as it’s up on current machine I wouldn’t touch it but yes I am in touch with few Pakistanis who are willing to help.

p.s: As I said earlier that I don’t like personal blogging and prefer not to share things but since I had nothing else to say or maybe I am not willing to make any typical post or maybe I was seeking for prayers of my well-wishers.

See you soon

Hi there, Hope your father is doing well.I am not a doctor but i am Health Administration Major(so there is great emphasis on Gernontology in Health studies, i.e, study of aging).Falls among elderly is quite common and take it very seriously here(North America). As falls cost money and time both for the person who suffered, family and govt resources.
Since due to aging people loose the ablity to balance(Gait) they tend to fall. Also bones started to thin out as body is not as responsive to calcium absorbtion.
The best you can do is to improve environment around him that is ask him to use footwear with grip, use a walking stick, ligthing is another factor and atleast at home make sure that the floor(wash room and bath room)is not slippery, carptet’s are not in the way.
Diet wise, ask doctor for the supplements, give him plenty of milk(but remove the fat).If you need further info i can send you more precautions.
    Hope that helps.

dear dee it’s always nice to hear you on my blog and i am thankful for writing a detailed answer.

My dad is 70 and he fell not because of some issue of balancing but it has always been an issue with him that he doesnt walk properly, that is, he doesn’t look downside while coming down stairs etc and 3 out of 5 times he fell down due to this careless atttitude. He used to eat just bread and tea in breakfast. Now I am forcing him to change the diet and take atleast one fruit in breakfast. Lets see whether he listens me or not:)

    Thanks again:)
