Excellently written reply. Finally someone's talking sense.
It is almost disgusting the way prejudices prevail in our society. noone is ready to use their own logical reasoning. Journalism and everything related to the information medium has become so biased. you only get one side of the story. and what is more saddening? noone is more 'jahil' than the educated class itself in Pakistan. they resort to downplaying mullahs and the tableeghi jammaat etc just to sound cool and be accepted in society.
*thumbs up* on a well researched, well written reply. :) more ppl like u should be around to beat some sense into the Pakistanis and to teach them to make their own decisions instead of just blindly followin the right wing pseudo Mullahs or left wing liberals just so that they could be called one of them.

Anyway it doesn't matter. the thing is that majority can read my message.

By the way I am not one the. there are few sensible columnists as well like one i referred from Dawn paper and i just read one in jang paper page no 5 by Jawed Iqbal. These people do sound better than others.

Read Jawed Iqbal here:

http://ejang.jang.com.pk/jm/11-3-2006/images/06_01.gif

or click this

halai, I personally don't remember that we in Karachi would have ever fast for 28 days only. One can fast for 29 or 30 days. Twenty eight rozas doesn't make any sense scientifically[AFAIR] and reliigously.

The thing I think you're referring that people in NWFP areas celebrate eid while we are done with 28th roza otherwise I didn't hear that people stop fasting after 28, if they do then certainly they're ignorant and no it doesn't happen ALWAYS. I already cleared that it has become a political cum religious issue and one province doesn't listen as it's always ignored by main comittie.

Hello Adnan,

Note: This is not in favor of Mr. Nazir Naji or his thoughts.

I am confused whether I should appreciate your thoughts or should try to correct you. However, you have presented your thoughts in a very positive way but still I feel that you are unaware of the seriousness of Islam and its role in the society. Just go back to 1400 years and see what impact that DEEN had on the society and how Islam influenced the thoughts over all. Why the people of Arab left their beliefs and entered into Islam? They practiced something that was totally different than the one you practice nowadays on the name of Islam because if you were practicing the same then of course it would have the same affects on you too. The laws defined by Allah don’t get changed for anyone, whether are followed by Muslims or Non-Muslims. Muslims were those who had a belief that Allah has revealed a system to follow and it will certainly take them to the right destination. But unfortunately you do not want to know the reasons why Islam has lost its attraction and who are responsible for that? Allama Iqbal and many other unorthodox scholars identified the reasons and amongst several reasons the most dangerous is “Mullayiat”. You would know the meaning of this word if you did not belong to the same category and wanted to know the real Islam. You know if two lines with a minor difference in their angles start from a single point they will definitely have a major difference after sometime. This is what has happened to Islam and Mullayiat is responsible for that. This is the time you open your eyes and come outside of your cave and see how big the sky is. I wish I could explain you the difference between Mullayiat and Islam but Iqbal said once:

Agar chahoon to naqsha kheench kar alfaaz mein rakhdoon
Magar tere takhayul se fazoon-tar hai who nazaara.

Imran, those who criticize Mullahs are actually those who might be more worst than them. The issue is that ppl living in glass house criticize Mullahs because Mullah became an abusive terms around 200 years ago when Angrez came in India and He started ridiculing Molvis. You will not find similar trend in Christians and Jews. Instead of Defending our clergy system, our so called illetrate Muslims also sing songs of West.

I agree with Nazir Naji comments on mullahs. Mullahs and religious scholars are two different kind of people. The former use Islam to fulfil their own wishes and don't care how much their action impact negatively on Islam. The later one are the people who guide people in the light of Quran and Hadiths. We should distinguish between these two kind of people, and let people to chose their own way because Quran says "La ikraha fe din" (there is no restriction in religion)
