Shameless Media
Today ARY was showing live coverage of funeral ceremony of Allama Turabi who passed in a suicidal attack.ARY was also taking interviews from his family members about the incident. The reporter first reached to his youngest son who I think was not more than 12 or 13 years old was asked about his father’s death. The young kid first tried to control himself then he started weeping. What pathetic and inhumane I found that camera was still focusing him and guy kept asking him about death. Imagine a young kid who becomes fatherless within a minute and that media asshole keep questioning him for sake of channel viewer ship. No doubt we are going to be true capitalist state in near future.
This is not just with a single channel. In last year earthquake,Hamid Meer of GEO channel was in affected area and was taking interview. He with camera man reached to a home which was completely destroyed and people were screaming for help under the rubble . Instead of helping them out, Hamid Meer was saying like:
Aap dekh rahay hain k k malbay k neechay log dabay huway hain[pointing with finger to the region and camera focuses it] or Imdadi teamain yahan arahee hain.GEO aap ko taza tareen sorat-e-haal se waqif karta rahay ga
How cruel and shameless is our media, on top of that they feel proud of it.

Dear Adnan
This is a wonderful post and you are exactly right to be angry. This type of behavior from a TV journalist shows a level of calousness and disregard for the human condition that should not be acceptable. During teh Katrina Hurricane in USA, there was a similar scandal about Fox News anchor Geraldo Riveira, reporting on human misery rather than stepping forward and trying to help.

Well, yes i agree with the ethics media should keep inmind … for a grown up mature person taking such a brutal act is difficlt let alone such a young kid … i lso saw his clipping on some channel but didnt knew he was allama’s son … May Allah bless him.
That reminds me of a picture took years back in ethopia’s backdrop during days of severe famine and drought … a 1-2 yr kid who was so frail like a 5 month old child was on desert’s sand and a vulture was just few feet away looking at him … and that pic won i dont now … neither want to know how many prizes … to hell with those prizes and that picture … i’m sure the poor kid must have been left like that … not to interfere in nature naa … as they say …!!!
Such episodes of shameless journalism … goes on!

didnt they ask the poor kid,”aap ke abba jaan guzar gaye aap ko kaisa lag raha hai”
media wale kisi ke saathi nahi hote they r just bothered about their TRP ratings and viewership count. Media is more of a business now.
