Whining about blog censorship
It’s clear that Pakistani govt has banned Blogspot website due to offensive Muhammad(SAW) cartoons,a number of Pakistani bloggers are considering it a step against Freedom of speech,yeah the same shitty freedom of speech which gave right to danish cartoonist to publish cartoon but this same freedom is blown in air when someone tries to make fun of Jews or zions.Many members and readers of Karachi Metroblog are considering it against freedom and they think they can’t give voice to their innner feelings and they are comming up with very absurd posts on different forums,for instance,there are multple entries against this banning,like this is one of lame entry,posting Faiz’s classical piece of work which he would have writtena against Zia govt when everything was banned,somebody tell this guy to get registered with blogger first so that he could understand how blogspot actually works.Now read this,launching a movement,how can you tell them diffrent than these guys who are out on road just for fun,do you thnk they really know what’s going on or are they really true Muhammad(SAW) lovers?I dont thnk so anyway.We pakistanis dont miss a chance to come out as idiots and mess with our lives.I am one of blogger member and I am suffering too but like many,I am also against publishing of cartoons and why not?
Technically its very very difficult to check one by one blogspot website i dont say its impossible but the more you filters apply,more suffering while surfing so they just banned the IP(66.102.15.101) but IP of blogger.com which is control panel of blogspot.com is not blocked anyway ,IP of blogger.com is 66.102.15.100 and its accessible.So those guys who are whining about taken freedom away are literally idiots.I can still send my message to outer world and my post is real example of that.Believe me if Telecom guuys just apply more filters on that,same group of people would start movement against Slow internet,atleast these guys are on BBC now.
The funniest thing is that an American blogger talks about freedom,hehhe,somebody tell this lady that pakistanis can still write their blogs.It so weird when an american talks like this ,ignoring the facts that their own media censorts anti-USA news ,censors US marine casualties in iraq and more on that,they are spied.
Daniak speaking of Wikipedia,i am just curious how much info have you achieved yet and how it helped to solve the problems of Pakistan?Mr Awab,you are a doctor not a techie,if you know some algo to trace those speicif websites only but not all then do give that to China first who forced All three big search engine owners, Google,Yahoo and MSN to arrange seprte data servers for their respective websites. If they really want to start some movement,why dont they raise voice against poverty,illetracy and honor killings?why dont they come out on roads and collect gargabe and educate neighbours?I am not saint either but atleast i am not protesting for something which really dont matter for the country.

I am amazed at the logic.
If you start banning or boycotting an entire host, what will you have left?
You too have a blog on blogspot, and to view it, you have to route it through a proxy server, use the translation service of google. Does the GoP know that blogspot is a google property. Do we ban Google, too?
Perhaps banning the entire internet is in order.
Or, let us be sensible, and either let barking dogs bark, and get on with our lives. Ignore the ignoramus who posted those cartoons. or engage with them to show what the prophet (saw) was really like.
Or if we are fond of banning, ban those urls that are shown to have posted the cartoons.

Answer:Offcourse it is but my problem is more important than the problems we already suffered in past few weeks in Pakistan?DONOT you know what happened in Lahore?burnt flags,banks and what not?who were they?did they ever see the cartoons,Offcourse Not but they were just motivated by words and they did all that destruction,what if they actually seee it?how our illetrate nation would react?You shoudnt be so blind and ignorant by not admitting the fact that majority of our nation is mentally illetrate,not everyone can digest this blasphemy properly like you,me or few others people can.I support this ban even i am suffering,i thnk my suffering is less than the suffering country men suffer due to any riot.Stop being selfish dude.
2)why not ban the particular websites?
Ans:technically its difficult,difficult not to search every website,a few Kbs script can do this task but you have no shitty idea that when you apply more filters,it would slow down websurfing,and then you would frown about slow internet.

Ans:they are banning the sites they are finding,why didnt chinese whine when Govt aske Google,Yahoo and Microsoft to censor the results from SEARCH ENGINE itself which are against chinese(communism) intrest,are not chinese more advanced than us or you think they are dumb than you that they didnt come up idea for bannin thoese sites which are against them?come on ,stop being like any other lame politician of pakistan who jus want to have reason to protest and complain.

i am not being a hypocrite,read again,i have no personal issue with google or blogger,infact i am one of die hard fan of Google products but did i abuse Google or blogspot Managment?i support banning of ALL the sites which are displayin cartoons ,whether they are blogspot sites or even my own.I am not against freedom of expression or i say i dont support the version of freedom which you or that danish cartoon editor supports.

Dear Adnan,
Think realistically dude. This recent block is for 12 sites (including one blogspot blog, and not the one that contain cartoon) most of which were running a new competition. None of thousands of the sites containing the cartoons are banned. And blocking millions of blogs just for one blog, is not a good idea.
And secondly, if you give the government such leverage as to decide on what we can see and what we can’t, then just expect all anti-givernment sites will be blocked in the first place, as is the case in China. And btw, they are a communist regime where people can be hanged if they speak against government policies, and that is why no one complains when they block internet access. (Read about many chinese being sentenced just because they write against government policies on the Internet)
Anyway, long live the free proxies for the time being.

not one Blogspot,you didnt read my whole damn post at all,did you?i clearly explained why multiple filters could be harmful for bandwith itself.
I personally has seen blogspot sites displaying those cartoons even some sites were offending the Prophet(SAW) itself.I know a pakistani site where cartoon were published(author had no bad intention anyway).
If govt wont decide then who will decide?fat bellies mullas of MMA or PPP/MQM/Muslim league people?come on its not Anti-govt issue anyway dont make it a political issue like PPP ,MMA and other parties tried to use it for their own sake.I explained why they banned and why should they have banned and I still stick on my point.
if you are such a sound techie then come up with some nice algo rather just complaining about things,after all it will be then pakistanis who would whine about slow internet due to infinite filters.

Wow… amazing thinking here. I don’t want to burst a whole in your bubble here Adnan, but there are these things called computers - they can do all that you speak of and more.
There is this little company called google, who manages to filter the entire internet - billions of pages - every time you type in a search. They do this hundreds of millions of times a day without breaking a sweat.
I also direct you to the history books - look up American history - there are many fine speeches and justifications there for keeping slaves.
Most of them use the same raciast arguments you do - namely that the ‘peasants’ are so stupid that they would harm themselves if they saw a cartoon. Of course, these same stupid ‘peasants’ will never be able to figure out how to use a proxy, so feel free to use one yourself.
You should also start a campaign against schools, as they enable ‘peasants’ to read - which means they could one day read about the cartoons!
Look up the KKK in particular - that should really help you out in your arguments for all this.

I don’t know from which word of mine, you think I am techie? I am purely non-technical guy.
All I was talking is that there should be no blocking at government level. If at all a block is needed, it should be ordered by a judge after thorough investigation and then only it should be insured that the block is only applied if no other site is affected, so as not to hinder access to information.
So, I am asking is there should be no site blocked, and we, as good muslims would be able to identify the good and the bad and not view the offensive sites.
